Cased London Colt Model 1849 5 shot, 31 caliber revolver has a 6” Octagon Barrel with British proof marks. It has a serial # 4466. It has very crisp rifling. All matching serial numbers including; the wedge, steel trigger guard and back strap, silver-plated approximately 98% coverage. The frame is bright, the cylinder / chambers are clear and sharp. Nipples are not mushroomed. Each chamber has British Proof. The safety pins are sharp and not worn. There are some shallow tool marks on the side of the leading lever. There are a couple of small shallow dents on the left side of the frame just forward of the front screw. The trigger and the top back strap screws display 90% + fire blue. Markings – Left side of frame above the trigger guard in two lines “COLT’s / PATENT”. Top of barrel flat in two lines “ADDRESS. COL : COLT / LONDON”. Grips are varnished, only displays a few. Mars and scratches, nothing significant, no cracks or chips. The Mahogany case is in very good condition. The brass monogram top plate is blank. The top is showing a slight separation from the sides but not significant. The inside is lined with red velvet and is very sound. All accoutrements are complete:
· Cleaning Rod 9 “ Long, slotted tip, turned wood handle.
· Combination Tool, with nipple wrench and screwdriver.
· Steel Bullet mold for round ball + bullet cavities for the .31 Caliber with Colt’s patent marked on the sprue cutter is in excellent condition.
· A round hand made tin 2 ¼” wide x 1 3/16” high with paper label by W+C Eley containing Percussion caps.
· It has a bag type powder flask by James Dixon + sons / Sheffield which is in Excellent Condition with no dents. This would be proper especially for a London Colt. Thank You For Bidding!
