This is a superb example of the custom gunmakers art reminiscent of the "Best Gun" tradition started in England. A S&W Model 58 customized by Hamilton Bowen, finished earlier this year, comes in 2 calibers, 45 Colt and 45 S&W (Schofield). This is one of a set of 5 identical guns, commissioned in various calibers. It has a S&W Model of 1955 45 caliber barrel cut to 4", with the crown and rib made to look identical to the original factory barrel. The front sight has an improved profile and the barrel/cylinder gap is a tight .004". The barrel's bore is a tight .4515" and the chamber throats have been cut to .453". The gun has a complete action job, times early and consistently and locks up solid at hammer release on each chamber of both cylinders. The front of each cylinder has Bowen's signature "Black Powder" chamfer, and he also installed an internal trigger stop, a carefully fit hardened pin set inside the rebound spring. The sights have been regulated to shoot a standard 45 Colt RNFP load 1" above point of aim at 25 yards. During the regulation process 1.5" groups were routine (hand held from a bench). The grips are Spegel Extended Boot grips fit to the gun, and with S&W medallions. They are cut away for a 45 speed loader and fit the grip frame perfectly. The gun is in new condition except for a very slight turn line, and comes in a high quality leather gun rug (Moose Brand by Bauer Brothers.) Comes with the 45 S&W cylinder, original box, paperwork and cleaning rod/brush. The receipt for Bowen's work is available and is shown on this ad as well. Trades for a 475 Linebaugh, either new or in as new condition, either a 6" Freedom Arms Model 83, or a Bowen Nimrod will be considered. If buying, payment in US Postal Money Order preferred.
