We do not have precise serialization for the Ithaca Supersingles, and we welcome anyone who might point us in that direction. If the 37 serial numbers match the 66 numbers, this shotgun was manufactured in 1970. The series ran from 1963 until 1978. This specimen is a 20 gauge 66, and the choke is not marked on the barrel. It may very well be a full, since the muzzle mikes at .598, but that is Modified in most of our dealings. We got this shotgun from a local estate, and the 1970 date is about right from what we know of the deceased original owner. Surface scouring is extensive. Serial number is 6607619xx. Receiver has substantial amounts of gray metal showing, and the buttstock and receiver are similar. Barrel surfaces exhibit perhaps 30 percent light rust residue, but it only amounts to spotting, with no visible pitting. Buttstock shows extensive pecking, but also extensive original glossy finish. There are no cracks in the wood anywhere. Buttstock measures full original 14 1/4 inches from the center of the trigger to the end of the buttplate. We rate this 66 Supersingle as Very Good, about 70 percent. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Chamber is clean and excellent, we detect perhaps as much as 10 percent internal pitting evidence, but the only area inside the bore that exhibits that is from 6 to 10 inches forward of the chamber. The muzzle area is not affected. Extractor and firing pin appear full strength, with no flattening. We’re offering this good, solid, attractive Nixon Era Ithaca for only $ 189.00.
