This 870 Super Mag does not have a visible barrel date code, but from its AB073000 range serial number, it was manufactured around 2003. This variant is very similar to the current production 81125 Express Super Mag. Safety is right hand shooter with locking inlet. We do not have the key. Barrel, Receiver, Stock and forend are Realtree finished Hardwoods pattern. Barrel is 26 inch Vent Rib Rem-Choke with an extended Improved Cylinder Rem-Choke Tube. Chambering is 2 3/4 inch, 3 inch, and 3 1/2 inch magnum all interchangeably. We have installed a Choate® 10 Shot Magazine extension, so capacity is 9+1 on 2 3/4 inch shells; 8+1 on 3 inch; and 7+1 on 3 1/2 inch. Firepower, then, with #1 to #4 buckshot approaches the equivalence of 500 rounds of .22 Long Rifle ammunition. Weight empty is 8 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity 1 1/2 inches forward of the breech face. Surface wear is moderate, muzzle area of the barrel and receiver edges show finish wear. We classify this 870 Super Mag as Very Good, 75 to percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. The wear is not nearly as conspicuous as a blue gun would show, on account of the camo finish. Bore, chamber, mechanism, and choke threads are all bright and clean. From the slide connector rails and from our knowledge of this shotgun’s exclusive local West Tennessee owner, we estimate it has been fired 500 to 600 times, mostly with 2 3/4 inch loads, no rounds at all for an 870.
