Description: The .41 Remington Magnum caliber went online in 1964, at the behest of law enforcement masters Bill Jordan, Elmer Keith, and Skeeter Shelton. Smith & Wesson rolled out its first .41 Magnum Military & Police, numbered model 58, that year, a run that continued until 1977. The elusive goal was stopping power from a handgun. Model 58 specs are traditional double and single action revolver, N Frame Square Butt, with .265 serrated service hammer and matching serrated face service trigger, both color casehardened. Finish is blue steel; barrels were 4 inch heavy, pinned into the frame, with 1/8 inch barrel integral serrated ramp front sight; and fixed notch rear sight. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds of .41 Magnum ammunition. Weight empty is 41 ounces. From the collection of one of our favorite Vietnam Veterans comes this very attractive specimen. Surface detractions are minimal. There is very faint weakness to the muzzle edges and cylinder flute edges, along with two tiny scours on the upper side plate, and on the lower left side of the frame as the photos show. Magna Grips show a moderate amount of weathering on their butt area. Color casehardened .265 serrated service hammer and trigger exhibit only faint amounts of frame contact on their left sides’ edges; and cylinder rotation marking is minimal as well. We rate this 58 as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice so that our distinguished shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. Blast effect to the underside of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, only a faint smooth thin impress with no depth or etchiness at all. From the looks of that area and the cylinder face, this revolver has been fired fewer than 50 times. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Cylinder times correctly in all six positions on both single and double action. There is 2 to 5 degrees of hammer movement after timing in double action, and 10 to 15 degrees on single action. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible both with the trigger relaxed and with it fully depressed. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a tight .005. Box is an excellent 1970s specimen, but correctly constructed, and Nox protective paper is included as well. Serial number is S260200 Range, 1966 Production. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
