Several of the features on this 10/22 are unique. Building on Ruger's standard 10/22 platform, the 10/22-TD is the only 10/22 designed for quick separation of the barrel assembly from the action for ease of transportation and storage. The process is as simple as locking the action open, tripping a recessed lever, and twisting the barrel a ¼ turn. A knurled finger-tensioned barrel nut ensures that the rifle returns to zero when reassembled. The mechanism is well designed: clean, simple, rugged. Otherwise, the rifle is pure, classic Ruger 10/22, a design which has dominated the .22 LR target and recreational markets for decades because of its inherent accuracy, modularity, and reliability. The standard-weight, extra long 18” matte stainless barrel matches the finish on the aluminum alloy receiver. The matte black composite stock and fore-end combination has a single barrel band and aggressive checkering molded into the wrist and fore-end. The safety is a cross-bolt button located conveniently at the front of the black polymer trigger guard and directly behind the detachable magazine well and extended-length mag catch. The butt is capped with a thin checkered plastic recoil pad to prevent shoulder slippage. The detachable magazine is Ruger's patented, legendary,10-round rotary unit, which has a long-standing reputation for reliable feeding. A durable Cordura backpack-style fitted case securely retains the compact main barrel/action components for transport as well as providing lots of storage space and pouches for extra ammo, optics, accessories and incidentals. The case will accommodate receiver-mounted optics if desired. Sights consist a folding rear leaf and gold front bead, both mounted on the barrel section to maintain zero.
