Rem 742 Centennial 1966 Good 30-06

We had our friendly local gunsmith clean the chamber and test fire this rifle, and it functions flawlessly. This is a totally original 1966 Remington 150th Anniversary model 742 Woodsmaster semi-auto in the majority caliber, .30-06. It is well-weathered from use as a hunting rifle since it was new, owned by the same family. It has been in our shop many times, but the owner finally lost it on pawn pledge. This rifle is responsible for a hole in our ceiling, placed there about 30 years ago. Scuffs, scours and finish loss is evident on about 40 percent of the walnut stock and forend. There is a hairline crack on the right side of the pistol grip area from receiver to checkering, but that crack has been there at least 20 years and has not moved or increased. To its credit, there is no water swelling on the walnut, something quite unusual for a Remington. The original aluminum buttplate and grip cap are intact and excellent. Bore and chamber are Very Good to Excellent, with no evidence of pitting anywhere. The blue surface is better than the wood, and it rates perhaps as high as 80 percent, Very Good in our estimation.
