Winchester 21, 20ga. - 2 BARREL SET, #5 ENGRAVED, 3" MAGNUM

For those looking for an American classic for your upland hunting and clays needs...we have your gun! This Model 21 20ga. Magnum started out in 1956 as a 26" barreled field grade with factory 3" chambers. The previous owner installed a good deal of class by having it custom engraved to a Winchester #5 pattern, adding a set of Galazan 30" barrels with 3" chambers choked IC/M, installing Briley thin walled choke tubes in the 26" set, and then had the gun re-wooded in beautiful French walnut by Bill McGuire of Seattle, Washington. Cased in a fine leather fitted case the gun remains in like new condition. The Cody firearms data sheet documents its original configuration, including the 3" chambers. Most are aware of the Model 21's reputation for brutish strength, mechanics "par excel lance", and the ability to shoot any modern ammo. However, most "affordable" Model 21's are rather plain. This fine shotgun, sn26667 is both affordable and pleasing to the eye. The wood is stunning, the receiver and barrel engraving definitively dressy, and with the 2 sets of barrels (one with Briley choke tubes) it is a fine all-around double.

The original 26" barrels retain 99+% blue, sharp lettering, mirror bores, Briley choke tubes in CYL, SK1, IC, M, F, 3" chambers, strong, timed ejectors, bore diameter of .613 right, .614 left, minimum barrel wall thickness 24 thou right, 28 thou left, tight ribs, at breech, a perfect set. The 30" barrels were added by Connecticut Shotgun, the official service center for Winchester M21's and maker of the "new" M21's, have 3" chambers, mirror bores, choked IC/M (.007/.017), sharp lettering, 99+% blue, ejectors are superb, bore diameter .620 both barrels, minimum barrel wall thickness of 35 thou both, engraving at breach, (both tight on face and hinge pin) another perfect set.

The action retains 99+% blue, Winchester #5 engraving pattern (not factory), excellent screws, single selective gold trigger with crisp pulls (4.5lbs. each), action tight with lever way right of center, engraved trigger guard with 99+% blue (gold initials can be changed or eliminated at a small extra cost), all in excellent mechanical condition.

The custom French walnut straight hand stock and beavertail forend are stunning, with exceptional flor-de-lis checkering including a "mullered" border, impeccable wood to metal fit, highly figured walnut, beautiful oil finish, 14 3/4" LOP to rear position single trigger, 13 7/8" LOP to the end of wood, leather covered pad, 2 3/8" DAH, 1 1/2" DAC, 3/16" cast off (can be bent to your specs for about $180 within 10 days of purchase), no splits, cracks, or repairs anywhere. The wood is a fine example of top craftsmanship in all ways with great dimensions for today's shooter.

Some may look and say "well, it is not factory original" and of course they would be right. If it was it would be well over the $30,000 mark in price. Just the wood and engraving in today's market would exceed $10,000 in cost. This gun is priced to sell and will retain its value as you enjoy its use. Weighing 7lbs. 3oz. with the 30" barrels and 6 1/2lbs. with the 26" barrels, it balances in hand just perfect.

There are more photos upon request. THERE IS A 30 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY ON THIS GUN. Please see our other fine Vintage Firearms on this website. Just click on the line in the ad that says "see all items from this selller" and a great list of sporting and collectible arms will appear. SEE US IN VEGAS AT THE ANTIQUE ARMS SHOW THE WEEKEND OF JANUARY 20TH. Thanks for looking!
