Winchester 1897 Black Diamond Trap Gun 30” Full with Straight Stock The grand of dame of trapshooting - a special run of hand-made 97's that were given careful attention by the plant's best craftsman and specially marked with a "black diamond" on either side of the wrist. Highly prized by trapshooters, they ruled the roost at the turn of the century. Serial #358811 Manufactured in 1908. This shotgun features a single brass bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chamber. Standard two line address/patent dates on the barrel followed by "12 GA.", Winchester proof on the top of the receiver and barrel at the breech and standard maker, model and trademark marking on the slide bar. The bolt is marked "TRAP GUN". The forearm and stock are deluxe-checkered walnut with ebony diamond insets on each side of the wrist, Barrel and receiver numbers match. This gun has had a Hawkins recoil pad installed but still retains the original contour of the butt stock The wood is good overall some minor dings and dents and scratches but the checkering is crisp. The Bluing overall is worn with areas of smooth gray patina and high edge wear but no rust or pitting. The markings remain clear and crisp. And the bore and action are good.
