No sooner had the Nazi Army attacked the Soviet Union in 1942, the Russian Government began manufacturing in earnest in Baikal, Russia, at their IZH plant. The Russian Arms Maker has maintained its reputation for quality, good looks, and accuracy ever since the war, and their firearms have always been popular in Europe. So much so that earlier in the present decade Remington began partnering with the proud producers of Spartan firearms under its ISP, International Sporting Products, division. Since IZH and the Baikal and Spartan names have gained sufficient recognition in the United States, the company is ready to stand on its own in an amicable parting of the ways, and here is one of the last IZH firearms to bear both Remington and Spartan names. Photo shows one specimen of only a few we've been able to get during the closeout sale. This is the Remington ISP Spartan model 18N Single Shot, chambered in the wildly popular .243 Winchester caliber. It is, the factory says, The time honored single shot rifle. Spartan is proud to present the Model SPR18 to carry on this tradition of skill and accuracy. Features include chrome lined hammer forged barrels with appealing spiral cut fluting, all steel receivers, adjustable sights with 11mm scope rail, walnut stock and forend and 1" sling swivel studs. Action type is break open single shot; cross bolt safety; 23 1/2 inch forged barrel; weight 6 3/4 pounds empty; durable nickel receiver and bright blue barrel and furniture.
