The TEC serial number prefix, to the best of our knowledge, dates manufacture of this 5903 to some time late in 1988, first year of production 5903 for law enforcement only, before the pistol was even officially marketed. The reason for that is visible on the right side of the frame forward of the type one square trigger guard: Atlanta Police. This was a special order pistol for APD with no hammer spur, even though it is traditional double action with decocking lock-down ambidextrous safety. From a rest position, the first shot is a long double action pull, then all subsequent shots are single action with a short pull with the hammer standing cocked. Both its magazines are original factory S&W 1988 production pre-ban high capacity magazines with black follower and 14 round, instead of the later 15 round, capacity. We have personal knowledge that both these magazines were never issued, attest by the supply sergeant's block bag that both of them came in. This pistol has only moderate amounts of holster and carry buffing on its surfaces. Its has light and faint but extensive buffing on its slide, and minimal wear to the flange behind the hammer on the grip frame, and similar on the trigger guard edges. Weight empty is a light 28 ounces, more pleasant to carry than its steel frame sibling the 5906. We rate this pistol as a strong Very Good, 85 percent finishwise. Photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. This pistol is Excellent mechanically. Bushing contact buffing on the forward barrel surface is only moderate, and the bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Note the 1980s period Satin Stainless hammer and trigger. Sights are period Novak 3 Dot, night sights with no significant luminosity remaining. This pistol is not only eminently serviceable, it is also collectable since it is a very early, pre-catalogued variant of the 5903 in a very traditional configuration. We are including a new factory Smith & Wesson blue case. We're offering it for only $ 389.95
Not for sale to Massachusetts destinations. Not transferable to civilians in California or Chicago. We frequently have 10 round magazines available for civilian buyers in Hawaii, New York, Puerto Rico or cities with 10 round magazine limits.

Robertson Trading Post 117 Front Street PO Box 365 Henderson, Tennessee 38340 We consider trade offers. Traditional firearms good. S&W, Colt Stainless Very Good. We even like RG, H&R, Taurus, Rossi Revolvers. Gold, Silver good, esp. Morgan Dollars and Walking Liberty Half Dollars. We like .243 and .30-30 very much. One of the biggest expenses for us is cleaning guns; fewer than 1% of the firearms we trade for are clean.
