This shotgun comes to us from service with the Beverly, Massachusetts, Police Department. From its 850000 range, V suffix serial number, it was manufactured in the mid to late 1970s. Barrel is factory Remington 20 inch Cylinder Bore, and bears an AL date code, March 1991, so Beverly PD’s Armorers updated this shotgun some time, we estimate, in the early 90s with a new barrel, a slotted shell carrier, and black synthetic Remington factory 870P type forend and pistol grip black synthetic combat stock. Manufacturer is Remington Arms of Ilion, New York. Construction is entirely blued steel, with gloss black anodized trigger group. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch shells only, as all of them were before the mid 1980s. Barrel is 20 inch Cylinder Bore, .725 vicinity at the muzzle. The barrel will accept 3 inch shells, but the older 2 3/4 inch receiver will not eject 3 inch fired hulls. Magazine extension is Remington factory blue steel, with blue steel brace, capacity is 6 + 1, 2 3/4 inch shells only. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate on this shotgun, principally faint amounts of surface scouring and occasional finish freckling. Forend operation streaking on the magazine tube is only moderate, we estimate this shotgun was fired fewer than 500 rounds for annual qualification, no rounds at all for an 870. Note that Beverly PD scribed the serial number on the trigger guard, because of the Tac-Star 6 shell Side Saddle that covers the left side of the receiver. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are bright and clean. Similarly outfitted 870P Remingtons command prices upwards of $700 apiece. We’re offering the Police issued, Police updated 870 in the photos, however, for only $ 339.00.
