This is a U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Rifle having the serial number 282351. The lock plate has the two-line, "U.S./SPRINGFIELD", inscription with the eagle. The ' breechblock is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873" in three lines. The left side of the 32.5 inch barrel is marked with the large "V/P/Eagle Head. and inspection markings. The “R” marked rear sight is the Model 1879 Buckhorn pattern with 500 yard graduations on the left side of the base and 1200 yard graduation on the right side of the leaf. The photos clearly shows the Cartouche SWP with 1884 marking. It also has a P marking in the wood behind the 2 piece trigger guard. It also has the straight grooved/corrugated trigger. The wood is crack free with handling marks expected of a rifle of this age as seen in the photos. The metal components have the majority of the blueing remaining where the only pitting is a small area on the bottom of the receiver which also can seen in the photos. The barrel and receiver markings are clear and sharp. The original ramrod is missing. It is not often you can find a model 1879 in this fine condition. This is an antique and does not require a FFL or C&R license for shipping. The cost of shipping and insurance will be $33.

Due to recent increased use of Counterfeit Cashier’s Checks, these payments will be held for bank clearance prior to shipping.
