This Colt Police Positive Special is one of the older one I've ever seen. It is marked and chambered for the .38 Special cartridge And Wilsons book of Colt Dates sayes that it was made in 1952 (C%R). It appears to be factory stamped C.P.D. on the butt and I was told that it had come from the old Charlotte(N.C.) Police Depeartment (Now Part of the Charlotte-Mechlenburg Metro County Police). The finish and grips appear to be at least in the 40%s condition. It still locks up tightly and functions well. The bore shows wear of 20+ years of service,but it still is accurate. The sights are Fixed of course. Issued in 1952 and surplused in 1973 this is an older Colt .38 Special with honest police Department markings. This revolver rode on a patrolman hip for 20+ years and was presented to him at his retirement. He trusted this revolver and it remained in the family until a grandson (Who is frightened by firearms)sold it to me. It is said that it dropped two felons and can still do the job of protecting an individual or a family. Even though it is 58 years Colt says that if it loks up solidly, fire any +P round made..
