Here is Sig’s first .45 ACP Compact, the P245. Production ran from 1999 until 2006, so says Fjiestad. It is the direct ancestor of the current production P220C, whose numbers we inserted in the sku section for this ad. Type is traditional double and single action, locked breech semi automatic pistol. Manufacturer is Sig Sauer of Exeter, NH, with German frame and so marked. Construction is steel barrel, slide, trigger, and internal parts assembled into a lightweight alloy frame. Finish is black Nitron. Chambering is .45 ACP caliber. Barrel is 3.9 inch, six groove left hand 1:16 rifling. Guide rod is full length steel stainless, and carries the flat coil return spring. Sights are dovetailed front and rear, white dot front and white bar rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Sight radius is 5 3/8 inches. Capacity is 6 + 1 rounds of .45 ACP caliber ammunition, and this pistol comes with a toal of two factory magazines, manufactured for Sig by Mec-Gar of Italy. Weight empty is 27 1/2 ounces empty, with center of gravity at the back of the trigger, or 32 1/2 ounces loaded to the gills with 230s. Length is 7 1/4 inches from the muzzle to the end of the grip frame strut. Height measures 4 7/8 inches from the top of the rear sight to the magazine’s floor plate. Slide thickness is only 1.02 at the ejection port, and the frame is thinner than that. Grip frame has a squared serrated face trigger guard, with serrated front strap. Magazine release is reversible, but set for right handed shooter. Trigger is .290 serrated face, with short serrated spur .312 hammer. Trigger pull is consistent 1 inch travel, 10 pound vicinity double action, with two stage single action that pulls at 5 1/2 pounds with moderate felt creep. Safety features consist of a firing pin safety, and a decocker to end a firing session. This P245 comes to us from its exclusive civilian owner in Louisiana’s most populous parish. It is not date coded, but from its C prefix, range serial number, we estimate it was manufactured in 2002. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, with occasional edge whitening and faint streaking on the left side of the slide. We rate it as Very Good, close to Excellent, 85 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From the minimal amount of slide contact to the barrel surface, and moderate breech face whitening, we estimate this Sig has been fired fewer than 500 rounds. It will ship in a black plastic case, as the photos show, and both magazines. Instruction manuals are readily downloadable from the factory. Replacement pricing on a 220C is upwards of $1,000 in our area. We’re offering the Sig P245 in the photos, however, for only $ 619.00.
