This rifle is in cal 44-40. It is a special order half magazine and Lyman tang sight. There are traces of case colors mainly in the protected areas of the receiver and lever and hammer . The barrel and tube retain approx 85% thinning blue with some freckeling scattered throughout. Beside the Lyman tang sight the rifle is also equiped with the original rocky mountain front sight as well as the standard Marlin rear sight. The bore is very nice bright and shiney. I would rate it as a 9 on a scale from 1 to 10 and 10 being the best. The wood on the rifle is in excellant original condition The mechanics on this rifle are excellant . I have owned this rifle for years and have shot it often at the range. It is extremely accurate producing tight little groups on paper and deadly on the metal plates. This is a nice handy little rifle for targets or hunting or to just to own for investment.
