This .40 Tactical Smith & Wesson has a product code number of 150149, integral rail. From its TDU serial number prefix, this particular pistol was issued to the Watsonville California Police Department in 2001, only the Second Year of Production. It served our fellow Americans in Santa Cruz County under Chief Terry Medina until the Department recently updated. Factory WPD marking graces the right side of the frame. Surface detractions are moderate, principally holster buffing on its edges and levers, and scouring on its one piece grip, as the photos show. We rate it as Good, perhaps Very Good, 70 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically, bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We estimate this weapon has been fired fewer than 1,000 rounds during its decade of tenure, no rounds at all for a 4006 Smith & Wesson. Specs are as follows. This pistol is traditional Double Action. From a resting hammer position, the first shot is fired with a long double action pull, and the hammer stands after the first shot or if cocked manually. Ambidextrous lock-down safety also acts as a decocker. This pistol comes with two stainless 11-round magazines, for a total capacity of 11 + 1; and the 4006’s magazine release is readily convertible for left handed shooters. Hammer and furniture are black anodized aluminum, .260 spurred hammer and .305 smooth combat trigger. Low Mount Novak rear dot sight guides the shooter to the front dot sight, and the accessory rail will accommodate any Picatinny / Weaver-style light or laser mount. The 4006 represented the highest developed form of Metal Frame S&W Centerfire pistols, with the slide and frame carefully mated from the beginning of the manufacturing process. Weight is 38.5 oz.
