The metal surfaces retain about 98% original blue that is blending with a few light specks of surface oxidation. The barrel is fitted with a Lyman ring style ramp front sight and the rear of the receiver has a Sako rear aperture sight mounted. The left side of the barrel is marked "VAUGHN CAIL", and it is not known how much, other than the barrel is his custom work. Cail was a well known gunsmith and sporting retailer, who was the manufacturing superintendent for Winchester Firearms before opening his own retail operation in the late 1940's. Cail built many custom rifles for some for very high profile customers. This is a nice representation built on a L61R receiver and shows some great potential. The Sako style checkered walnut stock rates near excellent and has areas of minor to moderate flaking and a few small dings. The butt has some very nice figure and is fitted with a vented Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. A leather sling is included.
