Fox A Grade 16ga.- #4 WEIGHT BARRELS, NICE CLEAN GUN, 6LBS.
The demand for small bore Fox guns has never been more intense. The Fox 16ga. built on a 20ga. frame has earned it the reputation as being the finest handling of all American doubles, and this gun is no exception. With the lightweight 28" barrels it weighs in at 6lbs 1oz.. and balances perfectly 1/8" ahead of the hinge pin. Many are unaware that less than 2500 Fox A Grade 16's were produced, and most of the good ones are in safes and will not be offered for sale anytime soon. Built in 1931, this Fox, serial number 303211, remains in excellent original condition (wood has been restored). The value of Fox shotguns continues to climb and guns that have all original parts (wood especially) and in clean condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find (just look on the net today). This is a very sound investment vessel in which to plant some of your savings. And...it is a gas to shoot to boot!
The 28" #4wt. barrels have excellent bores, 90% factory blue, no dents or scratches, 2 3/4" chambers, choked M/F (.020/.033, can be altered to your specs), bore diameter .660 both barrels, minimum barrel wall thickness 27 thou right, 26 thou left, ribs are tight and barrels chime, barrels tight on breech face, extractors, GREAT BARRELS!
The action retains 30% case color, excellent screws, extractors, clear sharp engraving, crisp double triggers, trigger guard retains 50% factory blue, action tight with lever waaaaay right of center, all in excellent mechanical condition.
The wood has been restored, excellent checkering, full capped pistol grip, no cracks or splits, LOP 14 1/8" to Silvers pad, 2 3/4" drop at heel, 1 5/8" drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs within 14 days of purchase), excellent wood to metal fit. The stock is original to the gun but has more curl to the pistol grip than a standard Fox. I have disassembled the gun and photographed the head of the stock, serial numbers, machining, etc. and there is no doubt it is the factory original stock for the gun. It is the only A Grade Fox I have seen with this shape to the pistol grip.
What a graceful, dynamic gun we have in this fine little Fox. Set up for the ultimate upland bird gun with good chokes for flushing birds, light enough to carry all day long and still shoulder like lightning when that last bird goes up right next to your truck! It is becoming exceedingly difficult to find an A Grade 16ga. Fox for sale, especially ONE WITH ALL OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS AND NOT WORN OUT OR POORLY RESTORED. This is an honest Fox that you won't mind taking into the woods and fields. Take care of this gun and you can make a good profit on it a few years down the road. If this is your kind of gun, don't hesitate as it will not last long.
There are more photos upon request. There is a 30 day mechanical warranty on this gun. Please see all of our fine Vintage Firearms on this website by clicking on the line in the ad that say "see all items from this seller". I have over 100 fine guns not yet on the internet, so if you don't see what you are after give us a call. We just may have it! Thanks for looking.
