Originally developed as a joint venture between Switzerland's SIG and Germany's JP Sauer & Sohn to replace the Swiss service pistol, Sig P2xx series pistols are today regarded by top-notch LE agencies as the most accurate, simple-to-operate, and easy-to-maintain pistols available. Professionals appreciate their simple takedown, clear sight picture, and legendary "To-Hell-and-Back" reliability. The P320 family is the latest addition to this distinguished line, in a modular, polymer format, designed to take “striker-fired” pistols to the next level of evolution. Completely modular, the P320 lets the shooter quickly change out caliber and/or gun dimensions around an internal fire control unit to adapt the pistol to different hand sizes and missions. Functionally, the P320 is one of simplest-to-operate and safest of all striker-fired pistols.
This P320 comes as a standard "Carry" (medium size) pistol with typical SIG type controls, including a US-style magazine release conventionally positioned behind the trigger. This pistol has locks up simply and reliably at the top of the ejection port. This system is often emulated but seldom perfected to achieve the rock-solid barrel lock up and accuracy that is the hall mark of all Sig pistols. Beyond that, P320 models allow quick changes in caliber (9mm, .40S&W, .357 Sig, .45 ACP) and size (subcompact, compact and full). Want to change from Carry 9mm to Sub Compact .40 SW? This P320 features a black polymer synthetic grip unit under a stainless steel slide with Sig's Nitron® matte black finish. The slide rides on rails integral to the all-stainless fire control unit – complete steel-on-steel contact. Grips are well textured and inletted at the base for emergency mag removal and the grip unit incorporates an integral standard ("Picatinny" M1913) tactical rail. P320's are Double Action Only (DAO), with a consistent, light 5.5 lb pull and short tactile reset. Aside from the trigger, the only other control is an ambi slide catch, and the gun is a natural “pointer”. What this arrangement means is that the trigger is the only control you have to worry about when you have to shoot fast, and it works the same way, first time, every time. Internally, interlocking passive safeties ensure that the gun cannot discharge unless the trigger is pulled without requiring a “Glock-style” paddle on the trigger. The 3-point takedown protocol ensures safe, simple field stripping without discharging the trigger or fussing with an internal latch. The factory Siglite Night Sights consist of a bold 3-dot system built into a perfectly proportioned, low profile combat rear notch and front blade, using the classic Sig “P”-series dovetail design. The original Sig trademarked 15-round magazines, the same as used in the widely available P250, are very solidly built, and expertly finished in matte black. The holster is a Sig-Tac polymer paddle unit.
