This 1960 .22/32 Kit Gun Magnum Rimfire has an M prefix, and its low range, M380xx, dates it to the year 1971. It is in Very Good Condition, strongly so, and approaches Excellent status. Wear or contact indications armount to light cylinder rotation marks, small amounts of white to the muzzle sides and front edges of the cylinder, to the edges of the rear sight and to the thumb latch edges. Sideplate has light strap contact indications, two or three small areas of weakness to the finish. Forward and rear side plate screws have light stress indications, but the forward one may be in issue condition. Despite several small white streaks on the cylinder surface, note the nice purplish tint to the cylinder, less common on 1970s revolvers. Period appropriate walnut grips have moderate amounts of their glossiness missing on their high points and edges, but the panel checkering is strong throughout. Note some oil stain on the right panel.
This revolver is excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the topstrap directly above the forcing cone is negligible, with no indications of cutting at all. Double action trigger pull is stiff but smooth, and there is 5 to 10 degrees additional hammer travel after the cylinder times into place in that mode. On single action, the hammer travels a full 25 to 30 degrees after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a light, crisp, 3 ¼ pound. This Model 51 .22 Magnum is nice enough to be collectable, but eminently serviceable at the same time.
