When we really began stocking Savage Centerfires in 1984, we sold them because they were decent rifles at a good price. Our dozen or so accuracy sticklers, however, began shading toward Savages not because they were modestly priced, but because of their accuracy. They figured out how to minimize creep and overtravel on the Savage 110, and later the 11F, with stock triggers. This is one of the excellent factory Savages that helped the rifle earn its reputation. From its F380000 range serial number and encircled 2 barrel code, it was manufactured in 1992. Trigger is set at the original crisp but safe 5 pound pull. Manufacturer is Savage Arms of Westfield, MA. Construction is steel barrel and action, with white steel bolt body. Stock is the original factory ADL type graphite based synthetic with a 13 1/4 inch length of pull from the smooth faced steel trigger to the end of the 1/2 inch factory recoil pad. Barrel is 22 inch with six groove right hand 1:10 rifling. Weight empty no scope is 6 1/2 pounds with center of gravity at the stock lug. Magazine is internal, 4+1 rounds of .270 Winchester caliber ammunition. Residual metal finish detractions are only faint weakness to the barrel lettering, and surface roughness to the bolt collar only. Stock surface shows only two small scours on the forward left side. We rate this rifle as Excellent Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Its principal flaw is some etchy areas in the rifling grooves about 2 inches back of the muzzle. We rate the bore as Good to Very Good on that basis. Otherwise, chamber and rifling are bright, clean, and sharp. From our knowledge of this rifle’s deer hunting original owner, we estimate it was fired fewer than 100 times. Replacement pricing on current production Savage 110 and 12 rifles is upwards of $700 or even more. We’re offering the 110 F in the photos, however, for only $ 289.00.
