Here is the info on the rifle....

Browning Model 81 BLR (Browning Leveraction Rifle) Cal .308 Barrel marked-Browning Model 81 BLR,Cal .308 Only,Browning Arms Company, Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ,Made in Japan Dark Brown HIGH Gloss Walnut Stock and Forend, factory checkered Blueing on receiver, barrel, etc is essentially excellent Gold plated and serrated Trigger Bottom of trigger guard has 'Browning Buck' 'portrait' stamped w/gold plate in the recess Factory Iron sights installed from the factory. Leather sling(appears to be factory accessory) and sling mounts/swivels installed as bought with rifle. Tasco Golden Antler Scope(3-9x) and rings Professionally mounted at time of purchase back in 91-92. Detachable 4 rd magazine

Rifle has MAYBE 100- 200 rounds fired in its life and was used mainly for hunting. It has been VERY well cared for and despite it having been used for hunting it has just a couple small little shallow scratches and dings in the wood and DOES have a thin small 1" crack on upper lhs by receiver end...did not see any obvious reason how it happened.Has not appeared to affect the rifle and it may have been there since new since I do not recall any situation that may have caused it and the gloss finish on the rifle appears to not have been affected by it. .

Ser # is O(C-could be 'o' or a 'c' with heavy stamp?) 4832nx-xxx

Here is some extra info for those wondering about the 'Made In Japan" issue----

Browning firearms have been traditionally made in locations world-wide. John M. Browning's first rifle, the Single Shot, was made in Ogden, Utah. The next guns carrying the Browning name were made in Belgium. This continued for many decades. This was the result of John M. Browning's lasting relationship with Fabrique Nationale, in Herstal, Belgium. Most Browning guns were made in Belgium by F.N. until the mid '70s when some production was shifted to Miroku in Japan. Today's Browning firearms are made in either Belgium, Portugal, Japan or in the United States. With some exceptions this is the breakout: Browning Firearm Manufacturers

Belgium Superposed

Belgium (assembled in Portugal) Gold 12 and 20 ga. shotguns, Hi-Power Pistol, FN Pistols, BAR Mark II Safari Rifle, and BPR Pump Rifle

Italy The BDA 380 Autoloading pistol

Japan Citori, [/quote]Model 81 , Light Weight and Lightning BLR, A-Bolt II, 1885, Auto-5, Recoiless, B-SS, BT-100, BT-99, BL-22 Rifle, Auto-22 Rifle, A-Bolt Shotgun, BPS (all), A-500 G & R, and Gold 10 ga., All single barrel trap guns

United States Buck Mark Pistols and rifles, Pro-9, Pro-40 and the BDM Pistols

The tradition of making Browning sporting firearms overseas was started with John M. Browning's Auto-5 semi-automatic shotgun design being produced by Fabrique Nationale in Belgium. Production on many of the models made in Belgium shifted to Miroku in Japan in the mid-70's due to significant cost increases in Belgium.

I am open to offers on the rifle and will not separate the rifle from the scope. The rifle will be shipped in a case I have been using for it-it is a hard plastic case. Will be packed inside a box and sealed also..obviously....
