This is a late 18th century 18 gage flintlock fowler by James Wilkinson, founder of the Wilkinson Sword Company. Son-in-law to Henry Nock and working with him as a gun maker in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.It is a very early Wilkinson gun made before he took over Nock's business in 1804. This gun has the original ramrod. It is in excellent firing condition. It may have been made for tropical service having a palm tree engraved on the lock plate.
