LG53223Here is by far the sexiest configuration of all Winchester 1892 copies, at least among the ones priced under $1,000 apiece. Photos show a brand new specimen Rossi's 92 Octagonal Blue 24 inch Barrel, with 1:30 right hand twist rifling, fitted into a beautiful color casehardened receiver. Caliber is .44-40 Winchester, the original Western .44. Capacity is 12+1 rounds, and only .44-40 ammunition will chamber and function in this rifle. 44-40 ammunition, of course, is widely available in current production Hornady and Winchester brands, as well as a whole host of custom cowboy loads from fine companies like Fiocchi and Mag-Tech. Photos show one of only a handful of specimens we were able to get at a very attractive price due to a distributor closeout. Manufacturer, as always, is Amadeo Rossi S.A. of Sao Paolo, Brazil; importer is Braztech of Miami, a Taurus company. This variant of the 92 Rossi sports dark stained Brazilian walnut stock and forend, with a casehardened, authentic steel buttplate like its higher grade ancestors. Receiver and forend cap are also casehardened. Overall length is 39 1/2 inches; and weight empty is a well balanced 7 pounds. The principal difference between this and the originals is only the bolt safety, placed unobtrusively forward of the hammer, and Taurus’s patented hammer lock, placed in the hammer behind the spur, and furnished with two keys.
