1934 Colt Government Model National Match s/n C177797
Original and unaltered National Match pistol. Matching numbered slide. Original Colt commercial oven blue finish. All original factory-prepared National Match small parts in the action of the pistol.
In 1934, Colt first began to mark the barrels on the Government Model pistols. The first barrel marking was only briefly used and was a large 45 COLT on the top of the chamber. See pistols C 175334 and C 175336 on my site for examples of the first barrel marking.
Soon, Colt's moved the barrel caliber marking down on the left side of the chamber. This transitional style marking was also used for only a brief period of time in 1934. It is marked "45 AUTO." This is the barrel marking on this NM pistol C177797. Because the pistol is a National Match, there is also a circled M.B. (Match Barrel) stamped on the left side barrel lug.
Finally, Colt's standardized the barrel marking in 1935 to read COLT 45 AUTO on the left side of the chamber. That marking was used until mid-1945, when it was dropped and replaced with a boxed "C" on the right side barrel lug.
This National Match pistol shows normal holster wear, handling and small spots of light corrosion. However, the bore is bright with no pitting and the pistol locks up as tightly as it ever did. The NM action is the best ever produced by Colt's. See the images of all the NM prepared parts, which are specially polished. The trigger pull was factory prepared to a crisp 4.5 lbs.
A rare example of a very early, all original National Match pistol. The magazine with this pistol is a period-correct Colt magazine, but was added to this pistol.
The pistol is in mechanically excellent condition and functions flawlessly. I will provide with the purchase of this pistol free of charge a letter of inspection, data sheet and photo CD with all the images of this pistol from my web site.
01 FFL or C&R required with payment by USPS postal money orders or Western Union transfer. Add $50 for Express Mail shipping with insurance anywhere in the U.S. 3 day inspection period. I can recommend a good exporter for purchasers outside the U.S.A. Return privilege provided item returned exactly as shipped. Please contact me with any questions.
