This is an offering that rarely comes along. This rifle has emerged from an estate that I have inherited. The rifle is pretty much the same as the day it left Weatherby Rifles over FIFTY YEARS ago! Typical of early Weatherby's that were built, this is built on the time proven "98" Mauser action, which to this day - over 110 years later after the original design of the 1898 Mauser action - is still regarded as the best bolt action design ever produced. The rifle has a "Curly Maple" stock with original "Hand Cut" checkering "Basket Weave" design. Additionally, the stock has the classic Weatherby style cheek rest and has the Weatherby recoil pad, which states “Weatherby - Tomorrow's Rifles Today.” Also present is the Weatherby "Diamond" in the Rosewood pistol grip cap and Rosewood forend. The stock also displays the early hand made quality in details like the wood molded to fit and embrace the bolt release (see pictures) Note - this rifle is not glass bedded, the metal to wood fit is nothing short of amazing, the barrel channel and action relief cuts are as smooth as the outside of stock and remains natural with no coating or varnish. The original stock finish may have a little natural aging which is to be expected at 50 years plus..... The bluing is a bright smooth finish. All screws, bolts, trigger guard, floor plate etc... are matching numbers – save for the Buehler safety. Barrel is 24" long - 1/10” rifling twist with a # 1 contour. The barrel is numbered to receiver. The bolt body, extractor and magazine follower are all hand damascend (swirled polish) finish. All of this detail in one rifle really captures an era in history of early craftsmanship that is hard to find today. The optics are German – Pecar / Berlin 4 X 81 - scope is very clear view and is of the Post / Crosshair style. The original leather Pecar scope cover is included and looks like it was made yesterday. There are two small rubs where finish is off of the scopes objective lens ring. Buehler split rings and base complete the optics package. This rifle is offered to the discriminating collector. Own a piece of history. If you are a Weatherby collector, this very well may be the missing link in your collection. The original work order from Roy Weatherby is included.

I have many photos available... Thanks for looking at this extraordinary rifle and God Bless America.

This rifle will be shipped in a hard case for protection. Buyer to pay all associated shipping, insurance and transfer fees if applicable.
