LG0897 Here is the best made of all the AK-47 trainers introduced during the Reagan Era, and wildly popular during the Bush Sr / Clinton Ban Years. Production only ran from 1985 until 1994. This AK-22 is manufactured by Armi Jaeger in Italy, and imported by Mitchell Arms in Anaheim, California, of all places. From its 17000 range serial number, we believe it is a second year of production specimen, manufactured in 1986 by our estimate. Action is not at all Kalashnikov, so this rifle is not proscripted by anti-AK State and Local laws except for civilians residing in Chicago. Sights are correct elevation adjustable square notch rear calibrated for 50 to 100 meter elevation; and semi-hooded blade front with faux gas tube assembly. Magazine is original curved steel 30 round blue steel, housed in a correct-looking and fitting short curved AK type housing. Forend and buttstock are classic dark stained AK Vietnam Era styling. Barrel is 18 1/4 inch blue steel with 1:16 rifling, and receiver is stamped blue steel. Mag well, stock anchor, sight base, and barrel attachments are semi-gloss anodized alloy. Buttstock, pistol grip, and forend wood are Italian Walnut. Weight empty is a well balanced 7 pounds. Magazine is correctly curved blue steel, capacity 20 rounds of .22 Long Rifle ammunition. Mechanism is rimfire blowback with dual guide rods and springs, steel bolt, extractor, and frame-mounted ejector. This still is, and always has been, the best made AK replica rimfire on the market. It is the first one we’ve had in several years, and it comes to us from a Connecticut Estate. Surface detractions are minimal, small areas of light white streaking and a few minor scours on the buttstock. We rate it as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected in our estimation.
