For sale is a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless semiautomatic pistol chambered in .32 ACP (or, as noated on the slide, "Calibre 32 Rimless Smokeless"). The pistol's serial number, 256XXX dates it to 1917.
The pistol appears to function well, with a strong recoil spring and functioning slide lock safety. The trigger is firm and functions smoothly, the grip safety functions, and the firing pin will eject a pencil placed in the barrel.
The pistol's finish appears to be thinning with age, but overall fairly uniform, with the most wear on the backstrap, rear sight, and muzzle, particularly at the high spots. The pistol's metal exhibits small rust pitting, small scratches, and some small rust damage in the cocking serrations on the left side of the slide. Some marks in the frame exist on the butt, near the magazine well. The original rubber grip panels are chipped and worn, particularly at the butt. The barrel is bright, and rifling remains, but the barrel is uneven, likely from rust pitting. The pistol is missing the front sight, and a magazine is not included.
Overall, a new set of grip panels, front sight, and a magazine would revive this classic, 91 year old hand-fitted Colt that could still perform any of the roles it was designed for.
