I saw when selecting a category that I had to select Gen 1 2 or 3. Well I have no idea what generation these are or even if they are at all. I do have a Colt Archieve letter that shows produced in 1962. So please disregard the category. This is a set of Very Rare Pair of Colt '62 Frontier Scout revolvers, a Matched Pair with consecutive serial numbers. Also a Colt Archive Factory Letter Is Included. This particular shipping carton with a western scene with a horse and rider in red, white and black was made for the single and double 22LR set, but the double carton is by far the rarest. This box was used for only the earliest pairs or braces of consecutive sets. Later sets were shipped in the more commonly seen wood presentation cases. The book mentioned below has the only pictures I have seen of these sets! This box is actually much more rare than the guns by far, it is this combination of two 22LR's in this particular box and consecutive numbers that makes them extremely rare. This book has the only pictures I have seen of these sets! I have only been able to find information on these extremely rare colts in Don Wilkerson's Book: Scouts, Peacemamkers, & New Frontiers in .22 caliber from Walsworth Publishing 1993. Please note the pictures at the end of the auction are for reference only. Most collectors already have this book but if you want the book, add $40 to the total. If you already have the book I will keep it. I have been unable to find any other information, past auctions, etc except for Dons book. He says these are extremely rare and only about 100 sets were shipped. They are both .22LR and consecutive numbered with serial numbers 8477P & 8478P. They both have 4 3/4' barrels with a blue finish and staglite grips. I doubt many of these boxes survived all these years! The '62 Frontier Scouts were introduced in 1962 with the first shipments of guns in January of that year. According to the Colt archive letter this pair was shipped on August 30th, 1962 to Buffalo Ranch Western Store in Afton, Oklahoma. These pistols are in excellent shape, no turn line at all on either pistol. There is a small scratch on the side of the revolver that faces down in the box about 1/4" long on both guns in the same spot between the trigger area and the cylinder. One is darker than the other. The lower part of the box is in much better condition than the top. The top has tape holding many of the folded seams together, while the lower part of the box is in very good condition considering the age! Overall these pistols are in beautiful condition and will make excellent collectors pieces! Don Wilkerson's Book Scouts, Peacemakers, and New Frontiers in .22 Caliber from Walsworth Publishing 1993 is the only place I have found proof that this set was even produced. See Last Picture.
