Griffin & Howe 98 Mauser Custom Rifle #11 and so marked. According to G&H, their records are not available for this gun because of a fire that destroyed records. According to the party we procurred the gun from, the gun was built sometime around 1925 and was originally in 35 Whelen Caliber, later rechambered to 358 Norma Magnum. G&H feels Kornbrath did the initial Engraving and Fred Adolph did the Beautiful Woodwork. We tend to agree after looking closely at G&H's Springfield #10 by Kornbrath and Adolph. Yet, Jim Demunk looked at this gun recently and said that the work could be by two other famous woodworkers and engravers working for G&H during the build period of this gun. He said whoever did the work, built one heck of a "Great Gun". The front sight has been removed and provision was made to accomodate a scope base on the receiver. Looking closely, one can see where the notch for the receiver sight was on the right hand side of the receiver, filled professionally with a similar quality wood and is hard to see at first glance. Also, additional engraving (Good quality but not the quality of the original engraving) was done on the center of the floorplate depicting a Native Indian on horseback firing his bow and arrow at a Bison. This gun is one Beautiful Work of Art and American Craftmanship rolled into one Fantastic Firearm. Price drastically reduced due to partial liquidation being implemented on many personal firearms this year. Serious inquiries only please. FFL or C&R required. Shipping detailed in ad. Thanks for Looking.
