Fox CE 12ga. BEAUTIFULLY RESTOCKED FOR A VERY TALL MAN
For those of you that follow my listings, you will notice the next large group of guns I list will have short, minimalistic descriptions with basic information. I have over 100 fine sporting and collectible arms to list and I simply cannot give the full page description on each one and still get them all on the website in a timely fashion. This is a 1911 made Philly Fox that has been restocked with gorgeous European walnut for a tall person. The LOP to the end of the pad is 16 3/16”, 15 ¼” LOP to the end of the wood, 2 ¾” drop at heel, 1 9/16” drop at comb, ¼” cast off. Any tall person that has tried to buy a Vintage American double knows they just did not make them much over 14 ¼” LOP. The only alternative for you big guys is an expensive and time consuming restock job. Well, there is no wait or extra expense with this fine Fox. It is being sold for the same price as you would pay for one with a standard length factory stock. There is at least a $2500 savings by not having to restock the gun yourself and wait the year or so for the work to be completed.
The 30” number 3 wt. barrels have great bores, choked F/F, with factory bore diameter of ..727, tight ribs, 2 ¾” chambers, 26 thou wall thickness right barrel, 30 thou left, 99% blue, good ejectors, all in great shape. The barrels are numbered to the gun but appear to be replacement barrels supplied by the factory during the Savage era. They are stamped as such.
The action retains just traces of case color but does have exceptionally deep and well cut C style engraving, barrels are tight on breech face and hinge pin, 99% trigger guard blue, lever is way right of center, all in good working order. This is a beautiful gun ready for all your upland, waterfowl, and clay target needs. What a great turkey gun it would make as well with its tight and tighter chokes.
