Description: This revolver was designed for low pressure black powder cartridges, not for modern production smokeless powder. From the collection of our favorite Kansas Lawman comes this very attractive specimen of the Iver Johnson, or Owl Head, Revolver that was so common throughout the twentieth century. Manufacturer was Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works of Fitchburg, MA; and this revolver is so marked, with 1886, 1887, and 1893 Patent Dates. Since this specimen has a double studded top latch; since its cylinder is free rolling except in fully cocked position; and since it has no prefix to its 44000 range serial number, either on the butt or on the grip frame, we identify it as a Safety Hammer model 2, Second Model revolver, produced in 1895. Type is top break, single and double action revolver, with transfer bar safety mechanism. Construction is entirely steel metal, with original factory black rubber grips and screw. Finish is bright nickel, with matte top nickel barrel rib, and with blued steel trigger, guard, latch, and hammer. Finish is well executed with excellent clarity to the marking atop the barrel, as the photos show. We believe the renickel was done by Smith & Wesson some time in the late 1960s or early 1970s, when S&W performed refinishes for $25 vicinity total price. Barrel is 3 3/16 inch five groove right hand ith half moon blade front sight; and rear sight is integral to the latch mechanism. Cylinder holds five rounds of .38 S&W caliber Black Powder Cartridges. This revolver was NOT designed for modern smokeless powder ammunition. Weight empty is 17 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, with a crisp 6 pound vicinity single action pull. This revolver times correctly on all five, and lateral play to the cylinder is 3 or 4 mm with the trigger fully depressed. Residual pitting is moderate in the bore, and minimal in the cylinder chambers, as the photos show. Finish is full and strong, and we rate this Iver Johnson as Excellent / Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This is a very attractive and functional specimen of a classic American Revolver. We’re offering it for only $ 219.00.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
