RARE JAPANESE ARISAKA TYPE 2 TAKE DOWN PARATROOPER RIFLE. This rifle has been semi sporterized but can be easily restored. The front and rear halves are matching numbers and it retains a full untouched mum on the receiver. The bolt does not match but appears to be numbered to itself. Original metal finish with no rebluing . Good bore. The rifle also retains it original anti aircraft rear sight as well as its front sight. It also retains its original butt plate, trigger guard, and floor plate. What has been done to this rifle is that the front upper and lower forearm wood has been shortened. The removable upper forearm band / bayonet lug has been modified and the rear band has been removed. Also the rear side sling swival was removed from the rear side of the stock and the holes filled with a soft filler which can be easily removed and put back to its original condition . Also there has been a coat of varnish added to the wood which comes off very easily. I have not fired it but the action and mechanics appear perfect with nice tight lock up as well as feed and function . With a little bit of effort this rifle can be put back in its original shape. These Jap paratrooper rifles are very rare and very expensive . Not many were made and most of the survivors are in collections and not easily found especially one with its original mum still fully intact. Additional photos are available on request.
