From one of our best young local collectors, who has now taken up more child raising than shooting, comes this very nice specimen of a relatively rare Sturm Ruger Carbine, the PC-4 Police Carbine chambered in .40 Smith & Wesson Caliber. From its 0 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1997, the first year of a run that ended in 2006. The genius of this good little carbine is that it accepts magazines from the venerable P94 series pistols chambered in the same caliber. Note that we are including a total of 5 factory P94 Ruger 11 shot Magazines, 4 extra in addition to the original issue 10 rounder. The original 10 shot magazine is included, and it still has its orange factory warning label affixed. We will be happy, of course, to sub another unissued factory Ruger 11 rounder with it, for any of our buyers who reside outside of California, Cook County Illinois, the District of Colombia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, or New York. As far as specs, type is Marlin Camp style blowback action semi-automatic carbine. Barrel is 16 inch, 6 groove 1:16 right hand rifling with wing protected black blade front sight and blue steel windage and elevation adjustable Micro Style White Outline rear sight. Later production specimens used Ghost Ring aperture sights, but not this early variant. Metal is matte blue finished steel. Stock is secured with classic 10/22 style alloy barrel band, black graphite based polymer construction. Note how the magazine well is incorporated into the stock, with bolt release on the left side of the receiver and steel magazine release that works from the left hand / offhand position. Safety is right hand shooter style, mounted on the guard behind the white alloy trigger. Note that the receiver is dovetailed to accept Ruger Factory Scope Rings, S100R style, both the same height. We did not get this rifle’s rings, but they are readily available from the factory and throughout the country. Length of pull is 13 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the end of the half inch serrated pad. Weight empty is 6 pounds 6 ounces, with the center of gravity at the front of the magazine well. Surface detractions on this specimen are minimal, only whitening on the edges of the scope mount block area and on the edges of the rear sight, with faint scouring on the sides of the buttstock. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
