This is a RARE Colt Trapper, Serial # X7!!! A classic rarity in Colt collecting, the Colt Trapper's Model of 1862 is a unique version of the Colt 1862 Pocket Police Model. The .36 caliber revolver featured a 3.5" snubnose barrel, leading most Colt historians to believe that it was the forefather of the famous Colt Detective Special. Sam Colt manufactured only 50 units of this rare Colt revolver, and less than 5 are known to exist today. Listed in Colts price list in 1861: 3.5" barrel, five shots plated mountings with a plain ramrod, the turned brass ramrod is the standard accessory and the barrel lug is bored through for loading.
