At auction is an item that I know absolutely nothing about. I’ve been doing some research on the internet and will tell you all the pertinent information about it. I’ll just hit the high spots of literature because if it something you’ve been looking for you will know what questions to ask before bidding. Anyway, up for bid is a rather rare RSAF Enfield built MK V1 – Webley pattern revolver. It is marked “Enfield Mk V1- 1924. According to research it is a much stronger, higher quality variant of the British military and police sidearm. It also is suppose to have tighter tolerances, and finer machining and finishing. It seems to function correctly in double and single action, but could, in my opinion, lock up better with the trigger pull. The pistol was converted from the original .455 Webley chambering to the more common .45 ACP (with moon clips) or .45 auto rim. This conversion is done by “shaving” the rear of cylinder. A gentleman collector of military weapons observed the finish and stated that he felt the finish of the revolver to be in approximately 96 to 98% condition. He gave this figure because of the one small area of some pitting on a small portion of the front of barrel (see picture). The revolver shows many many British military proofmarks. Serial numbers of the frame and barrel match (14467), but the cylinder has a different number (350229). The grips are not original. I have the original grips but they are broken. According to the previous owner he purchased this handgun in 1960 from a distributor in Culver City, California. He purchased it along with one box of ammo and several moon clips. There is still a half box of ammo left and the moon clips (4 of them) are included in sale. Not the ammo, just the moon clips. Please ask questions before bidding and I will try to answer them. You will find out more information by researching the internet. That is where I found out everything you just read. A lot more history and information is out there if you look. Curio and Relic License acceptable. Will not sell to California Residents
