For over a decade now, we’ve had excellent service experience with China made Remington 870 clones. We loosely refer to them as Norinco, as with this barrel, even though the proper names of the manufacturers range from Jin An Machine Tool to Hawk Industries. Here is one of their extra barrels to fit any standard size Remington 870 shotgun chambered in 12 gauge for both 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells. These barrels are made for current production NEF Pardner and Remington 870 Pump or Slide Action shotguns that have receivers capable of handling 3 inch Magnum shotgun shells. On older 870s, manufactured prior to about 1987, many of those were chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells only. This barrel will install on those, but their receiver’s ejectors are not positioned to eject 3 inch shell hulls. Note, too, that these barrels do not have a detent on their lugs. Old Model 870s and current production 870 Police shotguns have detent that retains the magazine cap. Current production civilian 870s made since about 1987 have a geared face magazine spring retainer that holds the magazine cap in place. We recommend against owners of 870P and old model 870s buying these barrels, because with those old guns the magazine cap will loosen prematurely. Also, the back side of the barrel lug measures 11 inches from the edge of the chamber on these. These barrels, then, will not work on China Made Hawk Shotguns whose barrel lugs are positioned at 14 inches from the chamber. Construction on these is milled steel, parkerized weather resistant military style finish, 3 inch chamber, 20 inches overall length, brass bead front sight, and Cylinder Bore muzzle that measures at about .725 diameter. Replacement pricing on factory Remington barrels ranges over $200 apiece in our area.
