Photos show a pristine specimen of the Rossi RG4570SS Rifle, the Stainless Rio Grande chambered in the powerhouse .45-70 Government caliber. The Rio Grande, writes the Braztech Importer, steps up big with the addition of 45/70. This is where massive firepower meets lever action. The 45/70 give you a fast side loading gate, closed tubular magazine, a handsome Brazilian hardwood stock and clean lines. These rifles, however, aren't meant to sit on your mantle. With buckhorn sights, cushioned recoil pad with spacer, side ejection, and the fast Large Loop lever action, the Rio Grande will take down any big game in North America. This Rossi will digest any .45-70 ammunition from the 1000 fps cowboy loads all the way to the 2500 foot-pound Premium Game Loads. Manufacturer is Amadeo Rossi S.A. of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Importer and service warrantor is Braztech of Miami. Both companies are Taurus affiliates. Factory specs are Lever Action Repeating Rifle, 20 inch Stainless Steel Barrel with 1:20 right hand six groove rifling; step elevator dovetailed Buckhorn all blue steel rear sight with matching brass tipped blade dovetailed front sight; stainless steel receiver made on the order of the Marlin 1895 ancestor; Marlin style white steel bolt with blue steel extractor and ejector assembly; lever safety, cross-receiver safety and Taurus patented internal hammer lock system furnished with two keys; .367 width low serrated spur hammer set low enough to clear most scope objectives without the use of a hammer extension; .275 smooth faced stainless trigger set on 4 pound range with minimal felt creep; tube fed with 5 + 1 round capacity of .45-70 Government Caliber ammunition, not interchangeable with any other caliber; 14 inch length of pull from trigger face to end of the magnum grade, spacer-lined 1 inch buttpad; Brazilian Hardwood stock and forend with swivel studs installed in the buttstock, and barrel band integral forend area stud; overall length 38 3/4 inches; weight empty 5.8 pounds with center of gravity at the lever pivot strut; 6 slot Picatinny or Weaver type scope mount included and in place. This is a fine looking rifle, as the photos suggest. It is what we call a Factory Demo, a sales rep’s showpiece or possibly even a Las Vegas showgirl from the annual SHOT Show. Box is marked Factory Reconditioned and the tag reiterates Braztech’s service policy. That simply indicates that if this rifle has a mechanical problem, Braztech will repair it, but they Will Not donate a freebie refinish. Surface detractions are negligible to minimal anyway, really no more than brand new specimens sitting on display in a gun shop. It comes in its factory box with instruction manual, factory registration card, and two keys for its Taurus hammer lock. Competitor and progenitor Marlin 1895 rifles command pricing upwards of $1000 per unit in our area, if a person can even find one.
