This 1st Generation Colt Model P was made 1900 and has been in the same family since first bought. It comes with a Notorized Affidavit, signed by the current owner, the great grand nephew of the moonshiner who owned it from the turn of the 20th century until his passing in 1972. This 4.75" revolver has the original finish and grips. only the springs had to be replaced. All three of the serial numbers match and all the markings are clear, though the Circled Colt on the frame is somewhat faint. It can still be seen with the naked eye. Two of the three frame screws are slightly buggered. The front sight blade is lower than normal from repeated draws from the holster. This Colt is blue, turning gray after 108 years. There is some slight pitting on the cylinder, on the frame in front of the cylinder and a few in the good bore. However, it works well, locks up tightly and is an excellent example of a Colt Peacemaker in .38-40, that was carried by a true N.C. Mountain Moonshiner for close to forty years. Used in several gunfights it was only put it next to the bed when the owner found religion in the early 1940s.
