Used: Enfield .450 Martini-Henry Mk. IV 1881 Lever-Action Single-Shot Breech-Loading Rifle, 21" steel barrel, steel receiver and lever action, adjustable rear sight, blade front sight, wood buttstock with steel buttplate, 2-piece wood forearm with (2) steel barrel bands, cleaning rod, (2) sling swivels.
Stamped "P4-4" and "1881" with some type of Arabic or Persian script on the receiver, this rifle is apparently the Enfield .450 Martini-Henry "long-lever humpback" model used by British troops serving in India, Nepal and Afghanistan in 1887, according to Bluebook. The wood buttstock and forearm on this British-issue rifle have been decorated all over with some type of unknown inlays. We purchased it from a U.S. service member who recently brought it back from Afghanistan. He said the former owner of this Martini-Henry was an Afghanistan warlord.
The lever-action does function and opens the top-loading breech. If the steel ever had any bluing finish, it is long since all worn off. The bore has some pitting, but has clear rifling. We are selling this rifle as an antique, not as a functioning firearm. No FFL required for shipment.
BlueBook on ENFIELDS : RIFLES & CARBINES .450 MARTINI-HENRY - Britains first purpose built breech-loader in 1871, hinged falling block action with internal lock mechanism, early Mk I rifle had a safety catch, Mk II rifle introduced in 1876, Cavalry Carbine in 1877, Artillery Carbine in 1879, Mk III rifle in 1879, and the long lever "humpback" Mk IV in 1887 which was sent to India & Nepal.\n\rInspection Policy: Unspecified
