They call these 80% Frames for the 1911 Govt Model 45 Auto but it appears to be more of a 60% Frame. Smiths have essentially told me that the castings are the first major step which accounts for the overall structure and that some basic milling is performed to make them what is known in the industry as a 80% Frame. The term is a bit loosely applied.
Sold by Mead Works who sells to the US Gov which is Investment cast by Travis Foundry and Forge.

I purchased these as a project in hopes of saving a few hundred dollars by building my own comp 45, which turns out to be beyond my technical ability.
