As much as any revolver ever built, the Redhawk is virtually indestructible. This is Ruger’s one-upsman competitor to the Smith & Wesson 25-5, and it will withstand ammunition that one dare not fire through one of the 25s. Manufacturer is Sturm, Ruger & Co., Southport CT plant. Factory sku is 5027, letter code KRH454. Construction is entirely stainless steel, only with black anodized, spring loaded dovetailed interchangeable red ramp front sight and matching white outline blade, windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. Type is traditional double and single action revolver with transfer bar internal safety device. Barrel is 4 inch heavy type, not full lug. Cylinder has the Ruger triple lock configuration, swingout with Ruger’s easy access thumb latch; and capacity is six rounds of .45 Colt caliber ammunition, and this Redhawk will handle anything from cowboy loads to shotshell to Cor-bon. Weight empty is 49 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Trigger is .312 smooth faced combat type, with .300 serrated spur hammer. Grips are factory Ruger Combat Type, made by Hogue for Ruger. Safety system is transfer bar internal, that prevents the hammer face from engaging the floating firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed.
