This revolver originated from within lot five (#4500-#5504) which is considered to be the prime lot of Cavalry revolvers from which Custer's 7th Cavalry troopers received their first issue during 1874. this revolver has seen considerable use during its lifetime. Seriel numbers match on everything but the backstrap & the barrel which was replaced sometime in its lifetime with a Artillery length 5 1/2 inch that has the RARE backwards rolled barrel address. Although this revolver is now fitted with a 5 1/2 inch Artillery Barrel it must be considered a Custer Cavalry model and hence probably had seen service during the Idian Wars in very close physical conformation to how it now appears.
