Here is the current, state-of-the-art form of the Classic Colt Combat Commander model that retains the traditional look and balance of John M. Browning's invention with updates that maintain its status as the leader among experienced hangunners. This is the classic 4 1/4 inch barrel all-steel Colt M1991A1 Commander. Type is 1911 Single Action Semi Automatic. Manufacturer is Colt Industries of Hartford, CT. Numbered model is O4091U, Colt O frame 1991 series. Construction is entirely stainless steel, with the exception of the white alloy mainspring housing, and anodized alloy sights and trigger. Barrel is 4 1/4 inch with six groove 1:16 left hand rifling. Slide has lowered ejection port with lateral rear serrations. Sights are black anodized stake on dot front with dovetailed rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Main safety is standard left side for right handed shooter. O series Colts like this one have firing pin safeties. Grip safety is extended beavertail type. Trigger is .250 serrated face alloy, and the photo specimen pulled in the 6 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep. Hammer is enhanced serrated skeleton Commander type. Finish is classic Colt brushed stainless laterals with matte stainless verticals. Issue grips are Rampant Colt Logo factory black rubber, but for only $29 extra buyers may add a set of Ajax Imitation Ivory Hard Polymer grips like the ones in some of our photos. Overall length is 7 3/4 inches from the muzzle to the end of the grip safety strut. Weight empty is 32.5 ounces, with center of gravity at the back of the magazine release. Each Commander comes in its factory Colt blue box with instruction manual, cable lock, factory registration papers, total of two magazines, chamber protector, and protective wrapper.
