LG0957 Here is an authentic Czech, Czeska Zbrojovka made Mauser, serial number 8000 range, in Post-War Sporter Configuration. The basic rifle, of course, is one of the best ever and one of the scarcest, a VZ-94, Model 94 Czech Mauser, probably originally manufactured by the German Military in occupied Czechoslovakia in about 1943. It is possible, however, that this is a commercial production Post-War rifle. Barrel is a very European looking blue steel with its only marking Cal. .30-06 on the left side of the chamber area. Rear sight is folding leaf type with serrated ramp base and behooded bead on the front sight. Stock is definitely walnut, possibly US Made Sporter but with a very distinctive logo on its buttplate’s center. Length of pull measures 13 3/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the buttplate. Barrel is 22 inch. The barrel’s finish is more brightly polished than the receiver. Blue wear is extensive on both, mostly hand contact whitening between the forend and front sight, as the photos show. Stock shows a hairline crack directly behind the receiver tang that extends toward the comb, but no visible separation. There are two or three weathering cracks at the end of the buttstock, but with no signs of recoil creep. Weathering and scouring on the stock is extensive, with only perhaps 30 percent of the original glossy finish visible. We rate this rifle as only Good, 60 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Trigger gauges at 3 pounds with minimal creep and overtravel. Safety works properly, a bit loose. Scope is an all steel Weaver, manufactured in the 1960s by our estimate, with extensive contact whitening on its bells. We expect that the scope has undergone considerable nitrogen loss, but scouring to its lens surfaces is minimal. Crosshair is Post type, 4 power magnification. Mounts are Weaver 168 rear and 146 front Pivot type that allows the shooter to pivot the scope to the left and use his iron sights. The Pivot system, of course, was discontinued because it affected zeroing. A standard 68 and 46 bases could easily replace the Pivots, but they are collectable in their own right. The rifle is mechanically sound, but the scope likely is not. This rifle comes to us from the estate of its original owner, an African American machinist from nearby Madison County, Tennessee, who worked Up North, as we say, after World War II. We’re offering it for only $ 369.00. We’ll discount $30 if we keep the scope and mounts. This rifle is not C&R Eligible.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $50 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, UPS Ground with full insurance coverage.
