Most Smith & Wesson Revolvers manufactured after 1996 have Round Butt Grip Frames. If you aren’t sure which yours is, please see the comparative photo. Here is Hogue's contribution to the ergonomics of the classic medium frame Smith & Wesson Revolvers, and S&W only recently recognized the contribution by changing from the functional but very ugly Michaels grips to the much more attractive and better handling Hogues. The square butt K and L frames, of course, were discontinued in the mid 1990s, but these older hard composite Hogues were very popular in their day, and they are period appropriate for most any Square Butt K or L frame manufactured from the late 1970s until the mid 90s. Installation of these sometimes requires removal of the butt pin from the lower grip frame area. Photos show sets of Hogues that were in service with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections on that distinguished Departments’ Model 64 Revolvers. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, as the photos show. We rate them as Very Good, close to Excellent, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
