1856 LeMat .44 x 20 ga Pietta
|
|
An Arcadian Invention of Dr. Jean LeMat of NewOrleans in 1856, General P.G.T. Beauregard of the same vicinityendorsed the good doctor’s revolver to the point that some 3,000 saw serviceduring the War Between the States in the Confederate Armed Forces. Lest historically oblivious firearms enthusiasts think that the high capacity .357 Smith & Wessons and Tauruses are an innovation, this LeMat carried 9 rounds of .44 charges plus a final blast of 20 gauge buckshot activated by the pivoting selective trigger. Weight is a very solid 57 ounces empty, and thisCavalry Variant’s barrels measure 7 inches for the .44 and another 7, including the chamber, for the 20 gauge. The cylinder rotates around the 20 gauge barrel, which doubles as a cylinder rod. This specimen is serially numbered L156xx, and the date code is CA, 2006, the year it came of Pietta’s assembly line in Italy. Pietta is the manufacturer for both the Cabela’s LeMat and for Navy Arms. This specimen is mint and unfired in its original box with its manuals and papers. It has never been fired or even had its cylinder rotated, and there are no detractions anywhere on its surface. Replacement price on this revolver in our area is around $1,000.00. If a person can find one of the Confederate Lemats,of course, he could expect to add a zero or two to that figure. We’re offering this one, however, for only $ 689.95
