Here is a very attractive Stevens model 94 Single Shot 12 gauge, manufactured about 1970 by Savage Arms. Its buttstock and forend are glondish toned hardwood, with blued barrel and color casehardened receiver. Barrel is 30 inches long, 3 inch chambering, and the muzzle diameter measures .692, close to an Improved Modified. Note that the breech lever is located behind the hammer, and this is one of the last Stevenses so manufactured. Buttstock has one hairline crack behind the receiver on both sides of the pistol grip with no separation and we have glassed those two. Surface wear is moderate, and buttstock and forend have a nice plain oil blondish refinish. Wear to the metal surfaces is moderate; the casehardening is weak but visible, and the barrel has weakness to its bluing over the chamber area and one substantial browned spot about 3 inches forward of the forend. We rate it as Very Good, since 75 to 80 percent of its finish is intact, but photos ought to suffice so that our shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. Chamber exhibits moderate rust residue in its forward areas, and there is extensive light pitting in the bore for about 12 inches past the chamber, but none within a foot of the muzzle. Mechanism is tight and excellent. Length of pull is a full 14 1/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the buttplate, and overall length is 46 1/4 inches. Weight empty is 6 3/4 pounds.
