We are offering for sale a very nice and original Colt 1878 Double Barrel Shotgun Fully Engraved Damascus in 12 Ga. This gun has 30" barrels of which the bores are not pitted or rusted out just dirty from age. The outside of the barrels show the damascus steel and were browned never blued and they are about 85% original. The action is engraved as you can see in the pictures there are some spots of pitting especially on the bottom of the trigger guard I took copious pictures of this gun and dissasembled it to take proof marks etc. to verify it is all original. The serial no. is 22051 making it manufactured toward the end of the 22,690 that were manufactured and may explain the incredible shape it is in for something that old that was used and fired for over 100 years. True you would not want to fire anything but low base black powder loads in it if you fire it at all but it functions and works very well. Notice the split forstock in beaver tail style all checkered. There are no cracks in the stock what so ever and really minimal handling marks, also the initials CA are marked in the silver plate for the owner of this gun. I have not obtained and most likely wont obtain a Colt Certificate for this gun ans it is marked clearly and falls within the serial no.s for these guns is engraved and matches all descriptions. This gun is written up to be the finest shotgun ever made in America by American's and in particular Colt. The book on these guns are $1500 in this shape with a 300% premium for being engraved there are not that many in existance so if you are a Colt Collector, SAA guy or gal this is you chance to own a real Colt SXS 12 Ga fancy engraved in your collection so bid often you will not see many of these in your lifetime. All firearms will be mailed with insurance and delivery confirmation. Buyer will pay for all shipping and handling costs. Shipping is usually $25.00 for hand guns and $35.00 (due to rate increases) for long guns and actual cost will be charged if more, in the case of California we will surcharge shipping $10 for either rifles or pistols due to their unreasonable demand on us.
